Monday Mood Board: A Snug

Today’s Monday Mood Board is inspired by ‘the snug’. I think every home needs a snug, so I hope today’s mood board inspires you to create one, too! If you missed my post about our snug (or have no idea what I’m talking about, ha!), you can read this post HERE!

A snug is basically a cozy space with soft comfortable furnishings, a place in your home where you can go to relax and be comfy. It’s ideal for winter!

I’ve shared many times over the years that I think texture is a secret ingredients every room needs (read this post about texture). And that secret ingredient is especially true if you are creating a SNUG!

You’ll notice today’s Monday mood board features many textures paired together. Here are some examples:

There is a cotton / denim fabric paired with a soft velvet ottoman. The chunky wicker texture on the trunk next to a smooth leather with metal nail heads. A mix of throw pillows, each with unique fabric textures, paired with a super soft plaid blanket with fringe. Notice the distressed pattern on the rug offers texture with interesting movement. A textured rattan lamp paired with a metal reading lamp and brass window candles.

A great thing about creating a snug is you can really make use of what you have! It doesn’t have to be perfect to be cozy. Don’t worry if it all matches perfectly or follows all of the “design rules.” Instead, look for textures and pull soft items together. Add some warm lighting to make it extra inviting. Do you imagine yourself curling up there on a winter’s day, feeling snug as a bug? Yay! You’ve got yourself a SNUG!

Bird prints (I have these in ‘the snug‘): Top left // Top right // Bottom left // Bottom right

Slope arm slipcovered sofa – This is the sofa I had in my last house, we didn’t have room for it in our new one so we gave it to Courtney! Ours is the extra deep one, which makes it basically the size of a twin sized bed. We used it for guests all the time. Perfect for a multi-purpose room!

Leather arm chair (same style as my leather loveseat)

Round tufted ottoman (multiple color options)

Patterned rug (this is the same one we have in the aqua/sand color)

Oversized stripe throw pillow

Brass window candles battery operated (these also come in two other finishes, these are the ones I recently shared in my home–see more and read about their features I love here)

Plaid/stripe reversible throw pillow

Basket weave knit throw pillow

Blue and white planter with preserved boxwood

Wicker storage trunk (similar to one I have–I use these to store guest bedding and extra bed pillows!)

Wool plaid throw blanket

Brass floor reading lamp

Mini rattan accent lamp (only $10.97)
